Charles Rutenberg Realty, Inc. Celebrates the Season of Giving with Special "Movie Day” Event for Clients of Community Housing Innovations, Inc.
Local Real Estate Firm Hosts a Screening of Two Movie Options at Elwood Cinemas in East Northport on New Year's Eve Morning
December 14, 2016
Giving back to the community has continually been of the utmost importance to Charles Rutenberg Realty Owners Pam and Joe Moshé. That's why, in this season of giving, the pair have organized a "Movie Day" event to provide some holiday happiness to the children currently living in Community Housing Innovations, Inc.'s (CHI) emergency housing units. The event is being held at Elwood Cinemas, located at 1950 Jericho Turnpike in East Northport, New York, on New Year's Eve, Saturday, December 31 at 10 a.m. Depending on the age of the child, each will be treated to a screening of either "Star Wars Rogue One" or "SING," along with a complimentary beverage and popcorn.
After planning the event for the Agents' children, the Charles Rutenberg Realty corporate team recognized an opportunity to give back to those who are less fortunate. As "payment" for the tickets, Charles Rutenberg Agents are asked to donate hats, gloves and socks to a clothing drive for CHI families. To ensure that all of the children will be able to attend, CHI has arranged for them to be bussed from each of its emergency housing units, which includes congregate shelters and scattered sites, located across Nassau and Suffolk Counties, as far east as Riverhead.
The theater can accommodate 400 movie-goers and "We hope to fill the theaters to capacity because there is nothing better than seeing happy kids at this very special time of year!" says Ms. Moshé. "When we can spread good cheer, it makes our hard work worthwhile."
"CHI is so grateful to Charles Rutenberg Realty and to Joe Moshé for hosting this event for the children living in emergency housing," says Alexander Roberts, Executive Director, CHI. "It is a very difficult time of year for families living in a shelter, and a day at the movies is a welcome reprieve and a reminder of the goodness in the world. It represents the highest ideal of corporate responsibility."
This "Movie Day" event is just one of the many ways in which Charles Rutenberg Realty is teaming up with CHI. After recognizing a shared goal of putting forth every effort to provide Long Islanders with a place to call home, the two organizations established a partnership in early 2016. It is through this relationship that the Agency organized a plan to present at CHI's First-Time Homebuyer Seminars and also for the company's Agents to provide scholarships to attendees of these sessions. Additionally, a program has been set up to enable Agents who have made a sale to a CHI client to donate 15 percent of their commissions back to the organization to fund additional grants. Further, earlier this year, the Agency held a Tenth Anniversary Gala, for which tickets were sold as a 100 percent tax-deductible donation to CHI, raising nearly $10,000 for the organization. Additional fundraisers and events are being planned for 2017.
"It is our pleasure to be able to share ‘Movie Day' with CHI families," says Mr. Moshé, who is a strong believer in social responsibility and consistently aims to utilize his professional services to help those who are underserved. "Not only will it provide us with the opportunity to meet some of the wonderful CHI families, but it's also a great way for our Agents to see firsthand who they are helping. We look forward to a long relationship with everyone at CHI and we can't wait to catch one of these great movies!"
